Bandits Abduct 8 Farmers in Kebbi, Injure One as Fresh Attack Hits Wasagu Community

Residents of the Wasagu area in Kebbi State have been hit by another violent bandit attack, resulting in the abduction of eight farmers and the injury of one other person.

The incident reportedly occurred on Friday afternoon while locals were working on their farmlands.

Attackers Storm Farmlands, Abduct Farmers

Chairman of Danko Wasagu Local Government, Hussaini Wasagu, confirmed the attack, explaining that the gunmen stormed the fields unexpectedly and whisked the farmers away before security forces could intervene.

The injured victim is currently receiving treatment at Wasagu General Hospital, while authorities say joint efforts with security agencies are ongoing to rescue the abducted farmers.

Gunmen Believed to Have Entered From Zamfara

Community sources revealed that the attackers, suspected to have crossed into Kebbi from nearby Zamfara State, operated for several minutes without resistance. They reportedly moved quickly through the fields and escaped through nearby forest routes.

Region Already on Edge After Recent Schoolgirl Abduction

This latest attack deepens the security crisis in the area. Just days earlier, the same region was thrown into panic after the abduction of 25 schoolgirls, sparking nationwide outrage and fresh calls for improved security.

Local officials say surveillance has been strengthened, but residents remain fearful as farming communities continue to face repeated bandit attacks.
