Isaac Fayose Slams Tinubu’s Ambassadorial List, Questions Reno Omokri and Mahmood Yakubu’s Competence

Businessman Isaac Fayose has strongly criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s newly released ambassadorial list, describing many of the nominees as “padi-padi” selections that he believes will not add value to Nigeria’s image abroad.

In a video now circulating online, Fayose questioned the competence and credibility of some of those chosen, including Reno Omokri, whom he dismissed as lacking a solid business background.

According to him, Omokri’s public influence is based on constant praise-singing rather than tangible achievements.

Fayose also took a swipe at former INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu, accusing him of mismanaging billions allocated for the conduct of a transparent election. He insisted that Yakubu failed to deliver the credible process Nigerians expected.

“Nigeria Is Going, Going, Gone” — Fayose Warns

Fayose expressed concern that the quality of ambassadors being appointed reflects a deeper decline in Nigeria’s governance standards. He emphasised that character should matter more than wealth or political loyalty, stressing that he prefers integrity over financial influence.

He urged both Reno Omokri and supporters of Peter Obi to move on, arguing that integrity should outweigh political affiliations or online activism.

His Statement Reads in Part:

“President Tinubu, this ambassadorial list—majority of them are padi-padi. They will not add value.
What will Reno Omokri do? Someone who has no company, whose job is to act like a town crier praising nonsense.

Or Mahmood Yakubu that got billions to conduct a credible election but did otherwise?

Look at the people that are going to represent Nigeria abroad. This is why I say the country is going, going, gone.

I respect good character, not stolen wealth. It’s better to have a good name than riches that everyone questions.”

Fayose added that many public figures are only celebrated because of the money they distribute, not because of genuine merit or leadership qualities.

He concluded by saying:

“Reno Omokri, congratulations—your job has finally paid off. Celebrate your reward.”
