“75 Worshippers Slaughtered” — Kwara Governor Confirms Massacre as Tinubu Deploys Army Battalion

Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has confirmed that armed bandits killed 75 Muslims during a deadly attack on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara North Senatorial District.

The attack reportedly happened on Tuesday, leaving the two communities in shock and mourning.

Governor: “They Were Massacred for Refusing Extremists

During a visit to the affected communities on Wednesday night, the governor described the incident as a mass killing, not a kidnapping operation.

According to Abdulrazaq:

“75 local Muslims were massacred simply for refusing to surrender to extremists who preached a strange doctrine.”

He added that the killings were different from the usual ransom-driven attacks, stressing that it was a pure massacre.

Tinubu Approves Immediate Military Deployment

Governor Abdulrazaq disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the immediate deployment of an Army battalion to the area.

The counter operation has been codenamed:

Operation Savannah Shield.”

Houses Burnt as Communities Count Losses

Aside from the killings, the attackers also reportedly set houses on fire, worsening the destruction across the communities.

The governor was accompanied by service chiefs and members of his cabinet during the visit as the state continues to assess the damage and coordinate security response.
