A young man in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, is currently battling serious injuries after he was allegedly attacked and beaten by his girlfriend and four of her friends over a suspected love triangle.
The incident, which has now sparked heavy reactions online, reportedly happened after the young lady discovered that her boyfriend had been secretly dating one of her close friends.
How the Trouble Started
According to reports making the rounds, the victim — believed to be in his early 20s — had been in a relationship with his girlfriend while also allegedly starting another romantic relationship with one of her friends behind her back.
The situation reportedly escalated when the girlfriend travelled out of town for festivities and later returned home to uncover the betrayal.
Girlfriend Allegedly Planned the Attack
Sources claim the young lady, feeling hurt and angry, allegedly decided to set him up and “teach him a lesson.”
She was said to have recruited four of her friends, and the group allegedly confronted the man before beating him severely.
The young man reportedly sustained serious injuries from the assault and is said to be recovering from the physical damage caused by the attack.

While many condemned cheating, a large number of Nigerians insisted that violence is a criminal act, no matter how painful the betrayal may be.
