Shock As NAPTIP Probes Viral Video Of Alleged Child Abuse On Livestream Platform

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons has launched an investigation into a disturbing viral video alleging the abuse of a minor on a livestreaming platform.

The agency confirmed the development in an official statement, describing the case as a serious violation involving child exploitation and online abuse.

The incident gained attention after a child rights advocate raised alarm over content allegedly showing a three year old child being exposed to inappropriate acts during livestream sessions where viewers sent virtual gifts.

Authorities said the case is being handled with urgency, with NAPTIP’s cybersecurity response team already working to gather evidence and identify those responsible.

The agency stated that the matter falls under provisions of Nigeria’s anti trafficking laws, which criminalise child exploitation and abuse, including cases carried out through digital platforms.

Officials also assured that the safety and protection of the child remain a top priority, while efforts are ongoing to ensure that anyone found responsible is brought to justice.

The case has triggered strong reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing concern and calling for immediate intervention to protect the child.

Some users also urged stricter regulation of online platforms, noting that the monetisation of content could create risks for vulnerable individuals if not properly monitored.

NAPTIP encouraged members of the public to report similar cases through official channels, stressing the importance of collective action in protecting children from abuse and exploitation.

Child protection advocates have also called for increased awareness and stronger enforcement of laws to prevent the misuse of digital platforms for harmful activities involving minors.
