26-Year-Old Ghanaian Lawyer Dies After Collapsing During Ghana’s World Cup Victory Celebrations

A wave of grief has swept across Ghana following the death of 26-year-old lawyer, Arba Tettery, who reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest while celebrating Ghana’s victory over Panama at the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

According to reports, the tragic incident occurred shortly after Ghana secured a 1-0 win over Panama, a result that sparked celebrations among supporters.

Tettery was said to be watching the match with friends at Standard Hostel in Bomso, near the campus of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, when she suddenly collapsed.

Witnesses at the scene immediately rushed to her aid before transporting her to the KNUST Hospital for emergency treatment.

Medical personnel reportedly performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for approximately 45 minutes in an effort to save her life.

Despite their efforts, she was later pronounced dead.

The heartbreaking news has triggered an outpouring of condolences on social media, with many expressing shock over the sudden loss of the young legal practitioner.

Friends, colleagues and well-wishers have continued to pay tribute to Tettery, describing her death as a painful reminder of how unpredictable life can be.

The incident occurred amid celebrations surrounding the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is being jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The tournament is the largest in World Cup history, featuring 48 national teams competing across 12 groups.

The competition is scheduled to conclude on July 19, 2026, with the final set to take place at MetLife Stadium in New York.
