The Oyo State Police Command has disclosed that a personal assistant linked to a member of the family of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, is suspected of collaborating with kidnappers responsible for the abduction of his sister and her two children in Ibadan.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, CSP Olayinka Ayanlade, preliminary findings from the ongoing investigation point to possible insider involvement in the kidnapping operation.
The police said evidence gathered so far suggests that someone with close access to the family may have played a role in facilitating the crime.
Investigators alleged that the suspect provided assistance to the kidnappers during the execution of the abduction, which occurred in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. Authorities believe the information and support allegedly supplied by the aide may have contributed to the success of the operation.
The police command stated that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend every individual connected to the kidnapping. Security agencies are currently pursuing leads aimed at uncovering the full network behind the incident.
Authorities also reassured residents of Oyo State that intensive investigations and security operations are underway to dismantle criminal groups involved in kidnapping activities across the state.
