Police Rescue Ex-Minister Adelabu’s Sister, Twin Sons After Kidnap In Ibadan, Two Suspects Killed

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have successfully rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, following their abduction in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The victims were kidnapped on June 3, 2026, while Mrs. John-Paul was reportedly on her way to drop the children off at school in the Challenge area of Ibadan South West Local Government Area.

According to police sources, the rescue operation was carried out after sustained intelligence gathering and tactical tracking efforts by security operatives.

The operation led to a confrontation between the kidnappers and police personnel, resulting in a gun battle during which two suspected kidnappers were neutralised.

Security sources further disclosed that two firearms were recovered from the suspects during the operation.

The victims were rescued unharmed following the exchange of gunfire, bringing an end to days of uncertainty over their whereabouts.

Authorities said the breakthrough was achieved through coordinated intelligence-led operations designed to pressure the criminal gang and track their movements.

The successful rescue comes amid growing concerns over kidnappings and insecurity in parts of the country, particularly following recent abductions involving schoolchildren and other civilians.

The Nigeria Police Force has continued to intensify efforts against kidnapping syndicates and other criminal groups through intelligence-driven operations and inter-agency collaboration.
