A traditional chief in Warri has sparked widespread reactions after making controversial remarks about Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, during a public gathering.
In a video circulating on social media, the chief questioned the role of the First Lady in national affairs and urged her to focus on her family responsibilities rather than matters affecting Warri and other political issues.
According to him, the First Lady has no constitutional role in the administration of government and should not be involved in political or regional matters.
“She should take care of her responsibility by taking care of her husband and children. She has no place in the office of the presidency,” he stated.
The chief also expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of insecurity in the country, arguing that many communities feel neglected amid growing security concerns.
He claimed that ordinary Nigerians continue to face significant hardship while those in positions of influence appear disconnected from the realities confronting citizens.
During his remarks, he further voiced frustration over issues affecting communities in the Niger Delta region and warned against actions he believes could heighten tensions.
“Our blood is now bleeding. We are tired of all this nonsense from the Itsekiris. No matter who it is, we are prepared for it,” he said.
The comments have since generated mixed reactions across social media platforms.
Some Nigerians criticized the remarks as inappropriate and sexist, arguing that women should not be excluded from public engagement or advocacy because of their marital status.
