Court Grants Miyetti Allah President Bello Bodejo ₦2bn Bail In Alleged $2.63 Million Money Laundering Case

The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to the National President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bello Bodejo, in his ongoing trial over allegations of money laundering involving $2.63 million.

Justice Inyang Ekwo delivered the ruling on Monday after hearing Bodejo’s bail application, holding that the charges against the defendant are bailable and that the court was empowered to exercise its discretion in granting bail.

The court admitted Bodejo to bail in the sum of ₦2 billion with two sureties in the same amount.

As part of the bail conditions, Justice Ekwo ordered that one of the sureties must be a resident of Abuja and provide three years’ tax clearance certificates, while the second surety must own landed property valued at ₦2 billion within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The court also directed the Miyetti Allah leader to surrender his international passport to the court registrar and ruled that he must not travel outside Nigeria without prior approval from the court.

“The offence with which the defendant was charged was bailable and the court has the discretionary power to exercise this in his favour,” Justice Ekwo said while delivering the ruling.

Following the bail decision, the judge adjourned the matter until October 5, 6 and 7, 2026, for the commencement of trial over the money laundering allegations.
