The Department of State Services (DSS) has arraigned five Nigerians before the Federal High Court in Abuja over allegations that they concealed the whereabouts of former Bayelsa State Governor, Timipre Sylva, who is wanted in connection with an alleged coup plot against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The five defendants, Reuben Ayuba, Musa Mohammed, Friday Paul, Paganengigha Anagaha and Ayebaifife Suobite, were brought before the court on charges bordering on conspiracy and allegedly concealing the whereabouts of a fugitive.
They all pleaded not guilty to the charges.
After hearing the matter, Justice Peter Lifu granted each defendant bail in the sum of ₦5 million, with two sureties in like sum.
The court, however, ordered that the defendants be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the fulfilment of their bail conditions.
Justice Lifu subsequently adjourned the case until July 22, 2026, for the commencement of trial.
The case is part of the ongoing investigation by the DSS into the alleged coup plot, in which former Bayelsa State Governor Timipre Sylva has been accused.
