Kylian Mbappe Becomes First Player To Win Two FIFA World Cup Golden Boots

French football superstar Kylian Mbappe has etched his name into football history after becoming the first player to win the FIFA World Cup Golden Boot twice.

The Real Madrid forward finished as the top scorer at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scoring 10 goals in eight matches to claim the prestigious award ahead of Argentina captain Lionel Messi.

Mbappe had previously won the Golden Boot at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where he scored eight goals, making him the first player to secure the tournament’s top scorer award on two occasions.

The 27-year-old also became the first player since West Germany legend Gerd Muller in 1970 to score 10 or more goals at a single FIFA World Cup.

In another historic achievement, Mbappe is now the all-time leading goalscorer in the men’s FIFA World Cup, with 22 career World Cup goals, moving one ahead of Lionel Messi.

He surpassed the Argentine legend after scoring twice in France’s 6-4 defeat to England in the third-place playoff on Saturday, a result that saw France finish fourth in the tournament.

Despite his individual success, Mbappe admitted he would have preferred helping his country reach the final rather than collecting personal honours.

“When you score that many goals in the World Cup, it certainly takes you to a whole new level,” Mbappe said after the match in Miami.

“But I would have preferred not to be the top scorer and to have played in the final. It’s good for my legacy once I’ve retired, but right now, that’s not what’s on my mind.”

Mbappe’s latest achievement further strengthens his reputation as one of the greatest players of his generation, adding another milestone to an already remarkable international career.
