Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Freetown, Sierra Leone, where he will represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 69th Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the regional summit is scheduled to hold on Sunday, July 19, at the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre in Freetown.
Shettima is expected to join fellow Heads of State, government officials, policymakers and business leaders from across West Africa to discuss key issues affecting the region.
The summit will focus on major policy decisions and strategic resolutions aimed at strengthening peace, democracy, economic growth and regional integration among ECOWAS member states.
Leaders are also expected to deliberate on regional security, economic integration, trade, sustainable development and other priorities designed to deepen cooperation across the West African bloc.
The gathering will bring together Heads of State and Government, ministers, senior government officials and representatives of regional institutions to review progress and chart a common path for the region.
Vice President Shettima is expected to return to Abuja after concluding his official engagements in Sierra Leone.
