The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has congratulated Spain following the country’s victory over Argentina in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, while drawing a political comparison to Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.
Spain defeated defending champions Argentina 1-0 in the final on Sunday to lift the 2026 FIFA World Cup, securing another historic title after winning the tournament for the first time in 2010.
Reacting to the result in a post shared on his verified X account, Sowore said the outcome matched his earlier prediction and expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu could similarly be defeated in the next general election.
“It happened as I predicted it. The World Cup final I foretold… came to pass. Spain defeats Argentina.
“The same way we will defeat Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Congrats, Spain,” he wrote.
Sowore’s post has since attracted reactions on social media, with supporters and critics debating both his football prediction and his comments about the 2027 presidential election.
The activist and former presidential candidate has consistently maintained his intention to challenge the country’s political establishment and has remained outspoken on issues relating to governance and elections in Nigeria.
