A 400 level student of the Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA), Nasarawa State, has been killed in a suspected armed robbery attack while returning from a graduation ceremony.
The victim, identified as Habiba Ummi Lele, was a final year student in the Department of Chemistry.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Saturday, August 1, when suspected armed robbers attacked the vehicle conveying her back to Lafia after she attended a friend’s graduation ceremony at the College of Health and Technology in Keffi.
The attackers reportedly opened fire on the vehicle, fatally shooting Habiba during the attack.
Details surrounding the incident remain unclear, and authorities have yet to release an official statement on the circumstances leading to the attack.
The late student was laid to rest on Sunday following funeral prayers held at the residence of the member representing Awe North Constituency in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Hudu A. Hudu Kanje, in Kanje.
Among those who attended the burial rites was the Executive Chairman of Awe Local Government Area, Hon. Umar Abubakar Dan’Akano, alongside community leaders, family members, friends and sympathisers.
During the funeral, Dan’Akano expressed his condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the repose of Habiba’s soul.
He also prayed for strength and comfort for her family and loved ones as they mourn the tragic loss.
