Online personality Solomon Buchi has criticised Nigerian pastor Tobi Adegboyega over remarks in which the clergyman appeared to question the need for people to fear hell while encouraging them to focus on building their lives and making money.
Buchi, reacting to the comments, described Adegboyega as a “false prophet” and argued that the pastor’s position does not align with core Christian teachings.
The online personality clarified that he does not believe fear of hell should be used to compel people to serve God. However, he maintained that hell is a biblical reality because it is referenced in Scripture.
Buchi also took issue with what he described as Adegboyega’s emphasis on making money and enjoying life without a corresponding focus on God, righteousness and obedience.
He further challenged the pastor’s argument that hell could not be real because no one had died, gone there and returned to provide firsthand evidence.
According to Buchi, applying such reasoning consistently could also raise questions about other matters of Christian faith, including the existence of Jesus Christ.
The disagreement has drawn attention online, particularly over differing Christian perspectives on hell, salvation, prosperity and the role of fear in religious teaching.
