Former Kogi West Senator and African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Dino Melaye, has mocked President Bola Tinubu over his decision to spend three weeks on vacation in Europe.
Melaye questioned the decision to leave the country for such an extended period, particularly amid the challenges facing Nigerians.
President Tinubu departed Abuja on Sunday for Europe as part of his annual leave, with London, United Kingdom, scheduled as his first stop.
The President is expected to return to Nigeria after the vacation to resume his duties and participate in political activities ahead of the January 2027 elections.
Reacting to the development, Melaye took to X to criticise the President’s decision.
“Which President will leave his country for 3 weeks? Only Tinubu. Oga, dem no dey treat old age. You can only manage it. Agbalagbi.”
Melaye’s comment comes shortly after ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar made a controversial claim about Tinubu’s age.
Atiku recently alleged that Tinubu is 90 years old, saying he had evidence that he could present in court to support the claim.
Tinubu’s publicly stated age is 74, having been born on March 29, 1952. Atiku’s claim has therefore generated further political controversy between the opposition candidate and the Presidency.
The latest exchange adds to growing political criticism of Tinubu’s three-week vacation as opposition figures question the timing of the President’s absence from the country.
