The Kano State Government has declared Tuesday, September 1, 2026, a public holiday to mark the Takutaha celebration, commemorating the birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The declaration was contained in a statement issued by the Office of the Head of Service and signed by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Rukayya Uba Sulaiman, on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the work-free day falls on 19th Rabi’ul Awwal 1448AH and is intended to give civil servants and residents the opportunity to participate in the celebration and reflect on the life and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The Head of Service, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, urged civil servants to use the holiday meaningfully by reflecting the values associated with the Prophet’s teachings.
She specifically highlighted honesty, patience, kindness, justice, peaceful coexistence and service to humanity.
Maimota also encouraged workers to remain professional and dedicated to their duties while maintaining good character in their responsibilities as members of the Kano State Civil Service.
She prayed for a peaceful and successful Takutaha celebration and wished residents of Kano State a joyous occasion.
