Lagos socialite Afolabi Kazeem, popularly known as KC Luxury, has sued the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) over his arrest and continued detention, demanding N190 million in damages.
KC Luxury is also asking the Federal High Court to order his release or grant him bail while challenging the legality of his continued detention by the anti-drug agency.
The socialite was arrested by NDLEA operatives on August 13, 2026, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, while he was reportedly preparing to travel to Paris.
His arrest followed the seizure of 184.5kg of cocaine from a courier company in Lagos.
Following the arrest, the NDLEA alleged that KC Luxury was connected to the seized consignment and described him as a “cartel leader.”
The NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), said the suspect was allegedly attempting to leave Nigeria when operatives arrested him.
“This cartel leader did not walk into our custody voluntarily; he intended to flee the country on a business-class flight to Paris,” Marwa said.
The agency had earlier announced that the cocaine, valued at approximately N39 billion, was seized during an operation targeting drug trafficking activities.
KC Luxury has now approached the court to challenge his continued detention and seek financial compensation for what he considers unlawful treatment.
In the suit, the Lagos socialite is asking the court to award him N190 million in damages over his arrest and detention.
He is also seeking an order directing the NDLEA to release him immediately or grant him bail pending the determination of the case.
The legal action comes as the NDLEA continues its investigation into the seized cocaine and the circumstances surrounding the alleged trafficking operation.
The allegations against KC Luxury have not been established as facts, and he has not been convicted of any offence. His decision to challenge his detention in court means the matter will now be determined through the judicial process.
The court is expected to consider his request for bail and the claims contained in his suit against the anti-drug agency.
