The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Abubakar Abdullahi, popularly known as “Dan Iya,” over the alleged stabbing and death of a 25-year-old man, Moh’d Musa, in Bauchi metropolis.
The incident occurred at about 11:00 pm on Saturday, August 22, 2026, in the Bayan Bata area of Bauchi.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Sunday.
According to the police, preliminary investigations showed that a fight broke out between Abdullahi and Musa during which the suspect allegedly brought out a knife and stabbed the deceased.
“The Bauchi State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that on 22nd August, 2026 at about 2300hrs, a report of culpable homicide was received from Bayan Bata area of Bauchi metropolis,” the statement said.
The police said Musa was immediately taken to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where a doctor confirmed him dead.
Operatives attached to the “A” Division Township reportedly responded to the incident, arrested the suspect and recovered the alleged weapon used in the attack.
The deceased’s body has been deposited at the hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue. The command said the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, directed the relevant officers to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure that justice is served.
He also urged residents to avoid violence and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
