D’Tigress Unveil Final 12-Player Squad for 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin

Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have confirmed their final 12-player squad for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin, Germany.

Head coach Rena Wakama selected a blend of established international players and promising young talents as the reigning African champions prepare to compete on the world stage.

Forward Amy Okonkwo will captain the Nigerian side as D’Tigress make their third appearance at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. Nigeria previously featured at the tournament in 2006 and 2018.

Two members of the squad, Ezinne Kalu and Promise Amukamara, are set to reach another milestone after being part of Nigeria’s 2018 World Cup campaign in Spain. Alongside Aisha Mohammed, they are among the Nigerian players who have featured at two editions of the global competition.

D’Tigress arrived in Berlin on Wednesday ahead of the tournament, which is scheduled to take place from September 4 to 13.

Nigeria has been placed in Group B alongside France, Hungary and South Korea, setting up a demanding group-stage campaign for the African champions.

D’Tigress will begin their World Cup journey against South Korea on Friday, September 4, at the Berlin Arena. They will then face Hungary at the Max-Schmeling-Halle on Saturday, September 5, before rounding off their group-stage fixtures against France at the Berlin Arena on Monday, September 7.

The 12 players selected by Wakama are Promise Amukamara, Jordan Obi, Elizabeth Balogun, Murjanatu Musa, Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah, Rita Igbokwe, Victoria Macaulay, Ezinne Kalu, Shay Ijiwoye, Nicole Enabosi, Amy Okonkwo and Grace Efosa.

With the tournament bringing together some of the strongest women’s basketball nations in the world, D’Tigress will be looking to build on their status as African champions and make a strong impression in Berlin.
