Chelsea forward Cole Palmer has signed a contract extension that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2034, adding another year to his previous deal with the Premier League club.
The England international said he was delighted to commit his future to Chelsea, expressing confidence in the club’s direction and ambition to compete for major trophies consistently.
“Chelsea means a lot to me and I think the club is going in the right direction, so I’m delighted to sign and I’m obviously very happy,” Palmer said.
The 24-year-old explained that discussions with the club’s owners, sporting directors and manager gave him confidence about the decision to extend his stay.
“Speaking to the owners, to the sporting directors and obviously the manager, they gave me a lot of confidence, so it was only right to sign,” he added.
Palmer also said conversations with his teammates reinforced his belief that the squad shared the ambition to win major honours.
“Speaking to players as well, everyone has the same ambitions. I feel like we win major trophies here consistently and I want to be a part of that and play a big role in it, too,” he said.
The forward joined Chelsea from Manchester City in 2023 and has since recorded a combined 91 goals and assists in 138 appearances for the London club, according to the figures provided in the report.
His time at Chelsea has also included fitness challenges. Palmer struggled with a persistent groin problem last season, which affected his availability and raised concerns about his condition.
He was subsequently left out of England’s World Cup squad by manager Thomas Tuchel. Tuchel also said Palmer had “missed too many opportunities” to represent the national team after the player withdrew from the squad ahead of recent Nations League matches.
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso defended the forward on Friday, saying Palmer remained committed to England and needed to regain full fitness to deliver his best performances for both club and country.
Despite the previous fitness concerns, Palmer has made a strong start to the current campaign, scoring four goals in seven appearances across all competitions.
His contract extension is part of Chelsea’s broader strategy of securing key players on long-term deals. The club has also handed contracts extending into the 2030s to other members of its squad, including Joao Pedro and Pedro Neto.
By extending Palmer’s deal to 2034, Chelsea have strengthened their commitment to one of their leading attacking players as they pursue their ambitions in domestic and European competitions.
