Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru has drawn attention after introducing herself by her maiden surname, Osawaru, rather than Idibia, amid ongoing speculation about the state of her marriage to Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, the member of the Edo State House of Assembly identified herself as Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru while addressing the House.
“Mr Speaker, my name is Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru, member representing the very great people of Egor Constituency and, by God’s grace, the minority leader of this House,” she said.
Her use of the Osawaru surname has attracted attention online, with some social media users linking it to questions surrounding her relationship with the singer.
However, Natasha did not explain why she used the name during the session, and her introduction alone does not establish that the couple have separated.
Speculation about their marriage intensified in August after Natasha reportedly appeared at an Abuja nightclub where 2Baba was scheduled to perform. A video circulated online appeared to show the pair involved in a heated exchange, prompting discussions about the nature of their relationship.
Further questions emerged when Natasha was absent from the singer’s 51st birthday celebration in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The event was attended by members of 2Baba’s family, including his children and mother, Rose Idibia, as well as several figures from the entertainment industry. Among those present were music executives Kenny Ogungbe and Dayo “D1” Adeneye, singers Wande Coal, African China, Faze and Tony Tetuila, and comedian Ayo Makun.
Natasha’s absence from the gathering added to the speculation surrounding the couple, although no confirmed explanation was given for her non-attendance.
Neither Natasha nor 2Baba has publicly confirmed a separation or provided an explanation for the developments that have fuelled the rumours.
Natasha Osawaru sparks reactions after introducing herself as “Hon. Natasha Irobosa Osawaru” at the Edo State House of Assembly, without mentioning 2Baba’s surname, Idibia.
Could this mean anything about their relationship, or are people reading too much into it? Neither party… pic.twitter.com/KO7duzloCY
