American rapper Nicki Minaj has drawn attention to the recent killings in Plateau State after sharing a report about fresh attacks in communities around Barkin Ladi and responding with a brief prayer.
Minaj shared a report focusing on Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, a Nigerian pastor who has been speaking publicly about attacks affecting communities in Plateau State.
“Lord, if we hear from you, then we will know what to do,” Minaj wrote.
Her post came amid a fresh wave of violence reported in parts of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, including attacks around Gassa and Chit on September 24.
According to TruthNigeria, three residents were killed during an attack on the two communities. The three victims were identified in other reports as Ishaya Dung, Barnabas Jack and Manasseh Mushwer, members of a community watch group in Gassa.
TruthNigeria also reported additional deaths in surrounding communities in the days that followed. However, some of the wider casualty figures have not been independently confirmed by security authorities, making the overall death toll from the latest wave of attacks uncertain.
Dachomo was seen at the burial of the three Gassa victims on September 25. During the burial, he thanked U.S. President Donald Trump for raising concerns about attacks against Christians during his address to the United Nations General Assembly.
“Thank you for advocating for us at the United Nations Assembly. I watched your address to the end,” Dachomo said, according to TruthNigeria.
The latest attacks occurred despite a dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed by the Plateau State Government on Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu on September 21 following renewed violence in the areas.
Further violence was reported on September 26 when gunmen attacked a mining site in the Marit area of Barkin Ladi. Reports differed on the number of people killed, with local accounts cited by different media outlets putting the figure at five or six.
Minaj’s intervention has renewed international attention on the security situation in Plateau State, although her post did not identify any alleged perpetrators or call for a specific government action.
The rapper has previously spoken about violence against Christians in Nigeria. In November 2025, she discussed the issue publicly after Trump raised concerns about religious persecution in the country.
For the latest Plateau attacks, however, Minaj’s message was limited to her prayer for guidance as reports of further killings continued to emerge.
