Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has opened up about his health challenges, revealing that he has been struggling with mobility and recurring swelling in parts of his body.
The veteran actor made the disclosure while visiting his longtime friend and colleague, Emmanuel Armah, who is also dealing with health challenges.
Speaking during the visit, Edochie said he was not feeling well but remained hopeful that his condition would improve.
“Sitting down here, I’m not very well, myself, I’m not. Walking is a problem for me now, but, I still have hope that I will recover myself.”
The actor also revealed that he sometimes experiences swelling in different parts of his body, which later subsides.
“Sometimes I get up and parts of my body are swollen and after some time they go down again. Like my hand is swollen now, my leg…”
Edochie, who has enjoyed a career spanning several decades in Nigerian film and television, said he had been leaving his condition in God’s hands.
He said he had prayed that when his time eventually comes, he would not become a burden to those around him.
“You are the author of life. Whenever you feel it is time for me to go, just take me. Don’t let me bother the people who are around me. So, just take me.”
Despite his current difficulties, the actor said he remained hopeful about recovering.
Edochie did not disclose a specific medical diagnosis or provide further details about the cause of the swelling and difficulty walking in the remarks shared from the visit.
The disclosure has drawn attention from fans and colleagues, particularly as the actor visited Emmanuel Armah, who is also currently facing health challenges.
Edochie remains one of Nigeria’s most recognised veteran actors, with a career that has spanned theatre, television and Nollywood productions.
