Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has opened up about months of severe pain and mobility challenges, revealing that her condition became so difficult that she sometimes struggled to walk and had to rely on a wheelchair.
The actress shared the update in a video posted on her Instagram page on Saturday to mark her 25th birthday, explaining that her health struggles were responsible for her prolonged absence from social media.
Daniels said what initially appeared to be a minor health issue gradually worsened, affecting her ability to move around freely and carry out everyday activities without assistance.
“I know many of you may be surprised seeing me in a wheelchair. Well, welcome to another chapter of my life. Let me walk you through what my life has been since many of you have asked questions about my absence,” she said.
According to the actress, she had been dealing with the condition for several months, but her situation took a more difficult turn after a children’s carnival she hosted.
“For several months now, I have lost my freedom to move around as I please. It started as something minor, very minor, but eventually led to this,” she said.
Daniels explained that she underwent several medical tests as the pain intensified, leaving her uncertain about her ability to walk from one moment to another.
“But things took a major turn after the last public gathering I hosted, my children’s day carnival. One test after another, I jokingly started calling myself elaborate. The pain became excruciating. Sometimes I can walk, and sometimes I can’t move. I cried,” she added.
The actress did not disclose a specific diagnosis in the account provided, but said she had experienced significant difficulties during the period.
Despite the challenges, Daniels expressed gratitude for what she described as meaningful progress in her recovery. She said recent developments had encouraged her to speak publicly about her experience and thank those who had remained concerned about her absence.
“Well, me sitting here today, in front of this camera, sharing this with y’all, it’s because there’s been some really significant developments in my recovery. And I say, thank you, Lord,” she said.
She also spoke about the emotional burden of depending on other people for assistance with routine activities, while describing her faith in God as a source of strength throughout the difficult period.
Daniels further disclosed that she had moved closer to her loved ones, particularly her two children, whom she described as being especially important to her.
The actress said she initially rented the property but later developed an interest in owning it after moving in.
Daniels married businessman and politician Ned Nwoko in 2019, and they have two children together. Their relationship has since been marked by a public and contentious separation.
Her latest disclosure has offered an explanation for her recent absence from social media, although she has not publicly identified the precise medical condition responsible for her pain and mobility difficulties.
