Galatasaray have received a major boost ahead of Friday’s Trendyol Süper Lig clash with Kasımpaşa after Victor Osimhen returned to partial team training following a groin injury.
The Nigeria international joined his teammates for part of Wednesday’s training session at the Kemerburgaz Metin Oktay Facilities under head coach Okan Buruk, according to Galatasaray.
Osimhen participated in the opening stages of the session before continuing with an individual programme prepared by the club’s medical team as he gradually works his way back to full fitness.
The training began with a dynamic warm-up before the players moved into 8v2 passing drills in three groups. They later worked on possession exercises before ending the session with a small-sided game.
Midfielder Mario Lemina and goalkeeper Günay Güvenç took part in the entire session with the squad.
Defenders Wilfried Singo and Roland Sallai, meanwhile, continued their rehabilitation programmes away from the main group as they recover from their respective injuries.
Osimhen’s return to partial training is an encouraging development for Galatasaray, although the club is expected to manage his workload carefully as he regains full fitness.
The 27-year-old striker is being assessed with a possible return against Kasımpaşa at Rams Park on October 9 in mind.
Galatasaray will then face another major test four days later when they host Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.
The Turkish champions are scheduled to continue their preparations for the Kasımpaşa encounter with another training session on Wednesday at 5pm.
