FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will have an easier path to re-election in 2027 than he did in the 2023 presidential election.
Wike spoke on Monday during town hall meetings with the Rumueme and Apara kingdoms in the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The former Rivers State governor said securing Tinubu’s second term has become a major political priority for him, urging residents of the state to support the President with a large number of votes.
“Each day I sleep, I am thinking about the president’s re-election. When I am eating, I think about the president’s re-election. Everything I am doing now is about the president’s re-election,” Wike said.
He called on Rivers residents to set aside political sentiments and support Tinubu based on what he described as the benefits the state has received from the administration.
“Let us forget sentiment and vote for the person who has recognised the people of Rivers State with dividends of democracy and several appointments.”
Wike said he was convinced that Tinubu’s 2027 re-election would be less difficult than the 2023 contest.
“I know the re-election of Tinubu in 2027 will be easier than that of 2023. We should appreciate Tinubu and ensure he gets a massive number of votes. We can do it.”
The minister also said Tinubu’s administration had brought developments to Rivers State and appointed several Rivers indigenes to key positions in the Federal Government.
Wike has repeatedly declared his support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election despite remaining a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). His latest remarks came as political parties and opposition groups intensify preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
