A 35-year-old woman, Ifeoma Nwafor, has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos after being arraigned over alleged cyberstalking of Folashade Okoya, the wife of billionaire industrialist Razaq Okoya.
Nwafor was arraigned before the Federal High Court in Lagos on a three-count charge filed by the police, bordering on conspiracy and alleged cyberstalking.
According to the prosecution, Nwafor allegedly used several Instagram accounts to publish materials about Okoya which were described as offensive, false, malicious and calculated to cause annoyance, fear, intimidation and anxiety.
The police alleged that the defendant and others, who are still at large, conspired to commit the alleged offences in June 2026.
Nwafor was accused of using Instagram handles including @cutie_juis, @truestorieswithifeomafa and @truestorieswithifeomafans to publish photographs and statements concerning Okoya.
The prosecution further alleged that some of the publications were derogatory and calculated to expose Okoya to mockery, ridicule, gossip, suspicion and scandal.
Nwafor pleaded not guilty to all three counts.
Following her plea, her lawyer, O.J. Aduwa, applied for bail, urging the court to release his client on liberal terms and assuring the court that she would make herself available throughout the trial.
The prosecution, represented by Stanley Nwafoaku of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Alagbon, Ikoyi, did not oppose the bail application, citing the nature of the alleged offences.
Justice Deinde Dipeolu subsequently granted Nwafor bail in the sum of N3 million with two sureties in like sum.
The court directed that the sureties must reside within its jurisdiction, with one required to be a blood relative of the defendant.
The sureties were also ordered to provide evidence of three years’ tax payment, their National Identification Numbers and photographs, as well as depose to affidavits of compliance.
Nwafor was similarly directed to depose to an affidavit undertaking to make herself available for trial.
However, because she had not yet fulfilled the bail conditions, the judge ordered that she remain in custody at the Kirikiri Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service pending the perfection of her bail.
The case, filed under suit number FHC/LAG/CR/819/2026, has been adjourned until November 8, 2026, for trial.
The defendant’s remand does not amount to a conviction. Nwafor has pleaded not guilty, and the allegations against her remain to be determined by the court.
