A Nigerian woman has generated debate on social media after sharing her observation about the wife of late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo during his burial ceremony in Abia State.
Alex Ekubo, who reportedly died on May 11, 2026, after battling metastatic kidney cancer, was laid to rest in his hometown of Arochukwu following funeral activities attended by family members, friends, colleagues and sympathisers.
A service of songs had earlier been held in Lagos before the final burial rites took place in Abia State.
One of the moments from the ceremony that attracted attention online showed the actor’s wife standing near the graveside as mourners paid their final respects.
In the video, she was seen placing a hand on her stomach while grieving, a gesture that quickly became a topic of discussion on social media.
Reacting to the clip, an X user identified as @Iam_sistabibi suggested that the moment appeared to support ongoing rumours that the widow may be pregnant.
Sharing her opinion online, she wrote:
“The rumour of Late Alex Ekubo wife being pregnant is true. Look at the way she’s holding her tummy. This is so heartbreaking.”
She later added in the comment section:
“Eze that announced the pregnancy ooooo. Leave me alone. I’m just a maiden.”
The post quickly attracted mixed reactions from social media users.
While some agreed with her speculation, others cautioned against drawing conclusions from a short video clip, noting that there has been no official confirmation regarding any pregnancy.
Many users also urged the public to respect the privacy of the bereaved family during a difficult period rather than fuel unverified rumours.
The discussion highlights how moments captured during public events can quickly become the subject of online speculation, particularly when they involve prominent public figures.
As of the time of this report, no official statement has been issued regarding the pregnancy claims circulating on social media.
