“I Told Her I Can’t Marry Her” — Man Ends 3-Year Relationship After Girlfriend’s Abortion Leaves Her Unable to Have Kids

A young Nigerian man has sparked intense reactions online after opening up about why he ended his three-year relationship with his girlfriend, Dera, following an unplanned pregnancy that reportedly changed their lives permanently.

According to the man, the relationship had been serious and long-term, with both families already aware of the union. He said they had plans to get married once she was ready, despite their age difference.

What Happened

The man explained that the relationship began to fall apart when Dera became pregnant.

He claimed she insisted on terminating the pregnancy, despite his warnings and efforts to convince her otherwise.

In his words:

“It all turned sour when she mistakenly got pregnant for me and she wanted to abort the pregnancy despite my countless warnings. She eventually got rid of the pregnancy and sadly it destroyed her womb and now she can’t have children. I told her straight up I can’t marry her.”

He added that after learning she could no longer have children due to complications from the abortion, he decided to walk away from the relationship, insisting that he could not proceed with marriage.

Mixed Reactions Online

The confession quickly went viral, with Nigerians sharing divided opinions.

While some people supported the man’s decision, others criticised him for leaving her after she went through a traumatic experience.

One social media user reacted:

“She didn’t listen to you at first, that’s the first red flag. She got rid of the pregnancy without you knowing. Omar, you dodged a missile.”

As the story continues to trend, many Nigerians are debating issues around abortion, consent, marriage expectations, and what partners owe each other after life-changing decisions.
