Lagos Police Arrest Officers Accused of Assaulting, Robbing Skit Maker Ijoba Lande

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of police officers accused of assaulting and robbing popular Nigerian skit maker and actor, Ijoba Lande.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in an official statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), stating that the officers involved have been identified and are currently under investigation.

Police Confirm Investigation Ongoing

According to the statement:

“The officers involved have been identified and brought forward to the Command for investigation. At the moment, both the officers, the actor, and his friend are giving their statements. Further developments will be communicated accordingly.
#SayNoToImpunity”

What Happened

This comes after earlier reports that Ijoba Lande accused officers attached to the Area ‘J’ Division of the Lagos State Police Command of:

  • Physically assaulting him
  • Seizing his iPhone 16 Pro Max
  • Allegedly stealing $1,200 cash said to belong to his brother

A viral video had shown the entertainer with visible injuries and bleeding around his eyes, while people around him poured water on his face.

The footage also captured him inside what appeared to be a police station as he attempted to file a complaint.

The police say investigations are ongoing and promised that further details will be made public as the case progresses.
