Mercy Johnson-Okojie Appointed Edo State Special Adviser on Public Engagement

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has appointed Nollywood star Mercy Johnson-Okojie as Special Adviser on Public Engagement and Advocacy. The announcement was made on Friday in Benin City, signalling the administration’s intent to strengthen its connection with citizens across the state.

Leveraging Influence and Experience

In a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Musa Ikhilor, Governor Okpebholo described Johnson-Okojie as a respected public figure whose influence spans social, cultural, and generational lines. Her new role is expected to focus on:

• Encouraging civic participation
• Promoting policies and initiatives at the grassroots level

Johnson-Okojie brings prior public service experience, having served as Senior Special Assistant on Entertainment, Arts, and Culture to former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, a role that reportedly contributed to her selection for this position.

Beyond her acting career, Johnson-Okojie is widely recognized for her philanthropic work through the Mercy Johnson-Okojie Foundation, focusing on women empowerment, child protection, education, and healthcare outreach.
