IGP Disu Approves Promotion Of 17,952 Junior Police Officers Nationwide

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the promotion of 17,952 junior police officers across various ranks in the Nigeria Police Force.

The promotion exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to improve personnel welfare, boost morale and reward officers for diligence, professionalism and dedication to duty.

According to a statement issued by Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, the exercise cuts across commands and formations nationwide.

The statement disclosed that 165 Sergeants were promoted to the rank of Inspector, 73 Corporals were elevated to Sergeant, while 17,714 Constables were promoted to the rank of Corporal.

The Inspector-General of Police described timely promotion as a critical component of the Force’s human resource management strategy and an important tool for motivating officers to remain committed to their constitutional responsibilities.

According to him, the advancement of deserving personnel reflects the commitment of the current police leadership to merit, career progression and institutional development.

IGP Disu congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to regard their elevation as a call to greater responsibility and service.

He encouraged them to maintain high standards of professionalism, discipline and integrity while carrying out their duties.

The police chief also charged the officers to uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force, respect human rights and remain committed to the rule of law.

The statement reiterated the Force’s commitment to promoting excellence, rewarding hard work and strengthening institutional capacity in line with global best practices in policing.

The promotion is one of the largest recent advancement exercises within the Nigeria Police Force and is expected to positively impact officer motivation and operational effectiveness across the country.
