Kenneth Okonkwo Accuses Peter Obi’s NDC Of Collecting Millions From Aspirants During Primaries

Nollywood actor-turned-politician Kenneth Okonkwo has accused the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, and some party leaders in the South-East of allegedly collecting money from aspirants during the party’s recent primary elections.

Okonkwo, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), made the allegations during an interview that has been circulating online.

According to him, an aggrieved aspirant from Anambra State reached out to him with what he described as evidence of irregularities and fraud in the conduct of the NDC primaries.

‘Aspirants Were Asked To Pay Millions’

The former Labour Party spokesperson claimed that the aspirant, identified as Obunike Ohaegbu, contested for the Nnewi North and Nnewi South Federal Constituency seat on the NDC platform.

He alleged that aspirants were initially informed that purchasing their expression of interest and nomination forms would be sufficient, with no additional payments required.

However, Okonkwo claimed the conditions later changed.

According to him, House of Representatives aspirants were allegedly instructed to pay ₦10 million, while Senate aspirants were reportedly asked to pay ₦20 million to secure their candidacies.

‘I Saw The Receipts’

Okonkwo further alleged that the aspirant provided documentary evidence of the payments.

“The aspirant sent me the receipt of the money. Anyone voting for Peter Obi and the NDC in 2027 is voting for criminality,” he said.

He claimed that despite complying with the alleged financial demands, aspirants were still required to participate in primary elections.

Allegations Of Preferred Candidates

The politician also alleged that certain candidates had already been selected before the primaries took place.

According to him, the exercise was merely a formality designed to legitimise predetermined outcomes.

He argued that the development undermined the credibility of the party’s internal democratic process.
