A 25-year-old horse rider from Massachusetts, United States, has died following a tragic riding accident that also claimed the life of her horse.
Chloe Christina Smith, a resident of Swampscott, suffered fatal injuries after being thrown from her horse during a ride with friends on the evening of June 5.
According to reports, the accident occurred when the horse reportedly hesitated at a jump, causing Smith to lose her balance and fall from the saddle.
The situation became even more devastating when the horse collapsed after the incident.
Family members later revealed that the animal sustained a severe neck injury and died as a result of the accident.
Emergency responders airlifted Smith to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester for urgent treatment. Despite efforts by medical personnel, she passed away several hours later while surrounded by her family and close relatives.
