Tinubu Losing Sleep Over Kidnapped Schoolchildren, Says Rep Abdulmumin Jibrin

A member of the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has said President Bola Tinubu is deeply troubled by the recent wave of school abductions across the country and is doing everything possible to secure the release of kidnapped victims.

Jibrin made the remarks during an appearance on Prime Time on  Arise News on Wednesday night.

The lawmaker expressed sympathy for families affected by kidnappings and bandit attacks, particularly those whose children remain in captivity.

“The school children that were kidnapped, it’s actually a difficult thing to talk about; my sympathy goes to the families of those kidnapped kids and those who lost their lives in the hands of kidnappers and bandits,” he said.

According to Jibrin, the Federal Government is actively working to improve security and secure the safe return of those currently being held by kidnappers.

“What I can assure you is that the president and his government are doing everything possible to see that the security situation is tackled,” he stated.

He further disclosed that concern over the abducted schoolchildren currently dominates discussions within the Presidential Villa.

“I’m just coming back from the Villa and everybody is moody and the matter is all about those kidnapped and their families,” he said.

Jibrin emphasized that the President is personally invested in efforts to address the situation and is under significant pressure due to the security challenges facing the country.

“Let me tell you something, the last person that can be able to sleep that I know very well is the president,” he added.

“The president is doing everything possible to tackle the security situation. For immediate resolution, the government is doing everything possible to ensure those who have been kidnapped are returned to their families.”

His comments come amid heightened public concern over insecurity, particularly following the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in parts of Oyo State and other regions of the country.

The incident has triggered protests, strikes by teachers’ unions, calls for stronger security measures and growing pressure on the Federal Government to secure the release of victims and prevent future attacks on schools and communities.
