Barrister Hashim Abdullahi Released Weeks After Abduction on Sokoto Road

Barrister Hashim Abdullahi has regained his freedom after spending 21 days in the custody of kidnappers.

The lawyer was abducted while travelling to Sokoto after attending a meeting of the Muslim Lawyers Association in Kano.

Reports indicated that he was released after an unspecified ransom was paid by his family and other well-wishers.

Confirming the development, the immediate past President of the Muslim Lawyers Association, Barrister Saidu Muhammad Tuduwada, said Abdullahi had been freed by his captors.

“Yes, it is true that he was just released by his captives. We thank Allah for His mercy, and we sincerely appreciate everyone for your prayers, support, and concern during this difficult period,” Tuduwada said.

Before his release, the kidnappers had reportedly demanded N100 million ransom but later reduced the amount to N10 million and issued a 48-hour deadline for payment.

His release brings an end to weeks of anxiety among family members, colleagues and associates who had been calling for his safe return.
