Three siblings travelling from Abuja to Benue State to bury their late mother were reportedly abducted by suspected gunmen along the Ogobia–Otukpo Road in the early hours of Saturday.
The incident was disclosed by citizen journalist Meddy Olotu in a video shared on social media.
According to Olotu, the family was transporting their mother’s remains to Iklenyi community in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State when their vehicle developed a fault, delaying the journey until about 2:00 a.m.
He alleged that armed men later intercepted the vehicle between Ogobia and Otukpo, abducted the three siblings and took away the corpse.
“They left Abuja with the corpse of their mother for burial in Iklenyi, but even by 2:00 a.m., they were still on the road because their vehicle had broken down,” Olotu said.
The alleged abduction has not been officially confirmed by security authorities as of the time of filing this report.
