A Magistrate Court sitting in Ogba, Lagos State, has ordered the remand of controversial social media personality Ademola Abiodun, widely known as DJ Chicken, following his arraignment over allegations of threatening the life of Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu.
DJ Chicken appeared before Magistrate M.F. Onamusi on Thursday, July 10, to answer a three-count charge filed against him. The charges include alleged threat to life, conduct capable of causing a breach of public peace, and offences contrary to the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.
According to the prosecution, the case stems from a video allegedly shared by the internet personality on social media, in which he made comments about the 2027 presidential election. Prosecutors claimed that statements contained in the video were interpreted as a threat directed at Seyi Tinubu.
The prosecution argued that the alleged remarks violate relevant provisions of the Criminal Law of Lagos State as well as the Cybercrime Act.
When the charges were read in court, DJ Chicken pleaded not guilty to all three counts.
Despite his plea, the court granted him bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in the same amount.
Magistrate Onamusi imposed strict conditions for the bail. The court directed that one surety must be a government employee, while the other must be a recognised community leader who owns landed property in Lagos State. Both sureties are required to provide three years’ tax clearance certificates, Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) identification, National Identification Number (NIN), and recent utility bills. The court also ordered that one of the sureties must be a blood relative of the defendant.
Pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions, the magistrate ordered that DJ Chicken be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.
The matter has been adjourned until August 3, 2026, when the court is expected to continue hearing the case.
