A former All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government Executive Committee (EXCO) member in Kaduna State, Ayuba Muhammad, has reportedly been killed by bandits after spending more than two months in captivity.

The tragic development was disclosed on Friday by security analyst Bakatsine in a post shared on his X account.

According to Bakatsine, reports confirming Ayuba Muhammad’s death surfaced on Thursday, months after he was abducted by armed bandits.

The late politician was a former APC Local Government EXCO member in Kaduna State and also belonged to the Zailaniyya Ambassador group.

Bakatsine described him as a respected community figure who was widely recognised for his contributions to community development and humanitarian activities.

Sharing the update, the security analyst wrote:

“Yesterday, reports emerged that Ayuba Muhammad, a former APC LGA EXCO in Kaduna State, was killed by bandits after spending more than two months in captivity following his abduction.

“Ayuba Muhammad was also a member of Zailaniyya Ambassador and was remembered by many for his contributions to community development.”

He extended his condolences to the deceased’s family, friends and members of the community mourning his death.

“Condolences to his family, friends and all those grieving this loss.”

Reacting to the incident, Bakatsine lamented the persistent wave of insecurity across parts of northern Nigeria and questioned how much longer communities would continue to suffer from deadly attacks.

“How many more fathers, sons, brothers and friends must be buried before this bloodshed finally ends?” he wrote.

The latest incident adds to the growing number of victims of bandit attacks in northern Nigeria, where kidnappings, killings and ransom-related abductions continue to pose serious security challenges despite ongoing military operations.
