A young Ghanaian woman has shared an emotional account of how she discovered that the man she had been dating for four years was simultaneously in another long-term relationship.
The woman, identified as Harmony, said she ended the relationship about two weeks ago after discovering that her partner had been maintaining another relationship throughout the period she believed they were building a future together.
Speaking at a public gathering in Ghana, Harmony said she regarded the relationship as serious and believed they were both committed to each other.
“We were in a serious relationship.”
According to her account, the truth came to light after a friend noticed that Harmony’s partner was celebrating a fourth anniversary with another woman.
The friend reportedly informed Harmony after noticing that the anniversary timeline overlapped with the period she had been dating the man.
Harmony subsequently discovered that the other relationship had progressed to the point where the man had recently taken part in a traditional wedding introduction with the other woman.
The revelation reportedly left Harmony devastated, particularly because she had spent four years believing she was in a committed relationship that could eventually lead to marriage.
A video of her recounting the experience has since circulated online, drawing emotional reactions from viewers.
Several women at the gathering were visibly moved as Harmony narrated the circumstances surrounding the breakup, with some breaking down in tears.
Her account has also sparked conversations about deception in long-term relationships and the difficulty of discovering that a partner has been maintaining another relationship without the other person’s knowledge.
Harmony said she eventually ended the relationship after learning the truth, bringing the four-year relationship to an end.
