Google Reports $112 Billion Profit as AI Investments, Gemini Growth and World Cup YouTube Traffic Drive Record Revenue

Google’s parent company, Alphabet, has announced a remarkable financial performance for its latest quarter, reporting net profits of more than $112 billion as artificial intelligence continued to fuel growth across its business.

The technology giant attributed the strong results to rapid adoption of its AI products, expanding cloud services and increased user engagement on platforms such as YouTube during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Chief Executive Officer Sundar Pichai said the company’s continued investment in artificial intelligence is reshaping its operations and delivering significant business results.

“Our AI investments are redefining what’s possible across every part of our business,” Pichai said while presenting the company’s quarterly earnings.

Between April and June, Alphabet generated more than $119 billion in revenue, representing a 24 percent increase compared with the same period last year.

Google’s cloud computing division also posted strong growth, bringing in more than $24 billion during the quarter as demand for AI-powered cloud services continued to rise.

A major contributor to the company’s earnings came from the appreciation of its investments in AI-related firms, including SpaceX and Anthropic. Alphabet said these holdings delivered gains valued at approximately $99 billion, helping lift overall profits to around $77 billion.

The earnings were further supported by SpaceX’s recent stock market debut earlier this month. However, shares in the Elon Musk-led aerospace company have since fallen below their initial public offering price of $135 per share, trading at just above $115.

Google also highlighted the rapid expansion of its AI chatbot, Gemini, which now has 950 million monthly active users. The figure places the platform close to rival OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which reportedly reached 1 billion monthly active users in June.

The company significantly increased spending to support its AI ambitions. Chief Financial Officer Anat Ashkenazi disclosed that Alphabet invested nearly $45 billion during the quarter, with most of the expenditure directed toward artificial intelligence infrastructure and development.

Alphabet has also raised its projected capital expenditure for the full year to as much as $205 billion, up from the previous forecast of $190 billion.

Ashkenazi explained that the higher spending reflects the company’s efforts to rapidly expand computing capacity to meet rising demand for AI products and services. She added that capital expenditure is expected to grow further in 2027, with additional details to be provided in the future.

The latest results underscore the increasing role of artificial intelligence in driving revenue growth and investment across the global technology industry, as major firms continue competing to expand their AI capabilities and infrastructure.
