England captain Harry Kane is regarded as Mbappe’s closest challenger in the race. Kane, who has also enjoyed an impressive World Cup campaign, has scored six goals and is given a 23 per cent chance of winning the award.
Argentina legend Lionel Messi and France winger Ousmane Dembele are next on the list of contenders, with both players reportedly holding an 11 per cent chance of securing the coveted honour.
