Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to either resign from office or refrain from contesting the 2027 presidential election, alleging that the current administration has failed Nigerians.
Obi argued that the country’s leadership has demonstrated a lack of competence and empathy in addressing the nation’s numerous challenges. According to him, the situation has left many Nigerians struggling amid worsening economic and social conditions.
He stated that the administration’s handling of national affairs reflects poor governance and insensitivity to the plight of citizens, insisting that the country deserves leadership capable of delivering better results.
The former Anambra State governor maintained that his remarks were not politically motivated but were driven by concern for Nigeria’s future. He described his appeal as a patriotic call aimed at encouraging responsible leadership in the interest of the nation.
Obi concluded by reiterating his belief that Nigeria can still achieve meaningful progress under capable leadership, ending his message with his popular slogan: “A New Nigeria is Possible.”
