The Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps (NAOC) has declared one of its personnel, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, wanted over allegations that he was involved in the illegal sale and supply of military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal elements.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Thursday by the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, Major Oluwatope Dorcas Aluko.
According to the Army, preliminary investigations indicate that Amutu, who was attached to the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, absconded from his unit on June 3, 2026.
The statement said the appropriate military authorities have officially declared the soldier wanted, while efforts are underway to locate and arrest him for a comprehensive investigation and possible disciplinary action in accordance with military laws.
The Army reiterated that it maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward misconduct, indiscipline and any action capable of undermining its operational effectiveness, integrity, reputation or Nigeria’s national security.
It also warned that any military personnel found to have aided terrorists, criminal groups or other non-state actors through the unauthorised sale, diversion or distribution of military uniforms, accoutrements or other controlled items would face the full weight of both military and civil laws.
The Nigerian Army appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could assist in the arrest of the wanted soldier, urging anyone with useful intelligence to report to the nearest military formation or any security agency.
The Corps reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, professionalism and the protection of military assets, assuring Nigerians that all allegations of misconduct would be thoroughly investigated and anyone found culpable would be held accountable in line with the law.
