The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has announced that certificates for candidates who sat for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for School Candidates are now available through its Digital Certificate Platform.
WAEC made the announcement on Friday through its official X account, urging candidates to access their certificates through the digital platform.
The examination body said, “The 2026 WASSCE for School candidate Certificate is now available for access on the WAEC Digital Certificate Platform.”
Candidates can use the platform to view, download and share their certificates by accessing it through the official WAEC website or the WAEC Digital Certificate mobile application.
The platform provides two main services. Certificate Access allows candidates to view, download and share their certificates, while Certificate Confirmation enables institutions and other organisations to verify candidates’ credentials.
To access a 2026 WAEC certificate online, candidates should visit the official WAEC website and open the Digital Certificate Platform. They should then select Certificate Access, provide the required examination and identification details, and complete the verification process, including OTP authentication where required.
Once verification is completed, candidates can view and download their digital certificates and share them with institutions that require proof of their qualifications.
WAEC has also encouraged candidates to use its official digital certificate application, which is available through the Google Play Store.
The digital certificate platform operates separately from WAEC’s result-checking portal. Candidates therefore do not need to use the result-checking system to access their certificates.
The announcement follows the release of the 2026 WASSCE results by WAEC.
According to the examination body, 1,950,726 candidates sat for the examination, while 1,200,514 candidates, representing 61.54 per cent, obtained credits or above in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
The 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates was conducted from April 21 to June 19, 2026, with candidates from more than 24,200 secondary schools participating.
Candidates who need their certificates for admission, employment or other official purposes can now access the digital version through WAEC’s certificate platform.
