Arsenal have officially completed the signing of London-born Nigerian full-back Habeeb Ogunneye.
The Premier League champions confirmed the arrival of the 20-year-old defender in a statement on their official website, although the club did not disclose the length or financial terms of his contract.
Ogunneye joins Arsenal after spending 15 years at Manchester United, where he developed through the club’s academy system.
The defender first featured around United’s senior team in February 2024, when he was included in the squad for the FA Cup fifth-round fixture against Nottingham Forest.
Although he was named in the first-team matchday squad on 10 occasions, Ogunneye left Old Trafford without making a senior competitive appearance for the club.
Seeking regular first-team football, the Nigerian spent the first half of the previous season on loan at Newport County.
He made 15 appearances and scored once, playing an important role as Newport County secured their League Two status before Manchester United recalled him.
Ogunneye will now begin a new chapter at Arsenal as he looks to establish himself at the north London club.
The young full-back is expected to initially feature for Arsenal’s youth team while also training with the senior squad.
He could have opportunities to work with the first team during international breaks, when several senior Arsenal players are away representing their countries.
The move also gives Ogunneye another opportunity to develop his career after leaving Manchester United without making a competitive first-team appearance.
