Atiku Asks Court to Disqualify Tinubu From 2027 Presidential Election Over Alleged NYSC Certificate Discrepancy

Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar, has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to disqualify President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from contesting the 2027 presidential election.

Atiku’s legal challenge centres on an alleged discrepancy involving an NYSC discharge certificate reportedly submitted by Tinubu to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

According to the plaintiffs, the certificate bears the name “Tinubu Bola Adekunle”, which they claim differs from the President’s name, “Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

They are asking the Federal High Court to determine whether the alleged discrepancy affects Tinubu’s constitutional qualification to contest the 2027 presidential election.

The suit also raises questions about the validity of documents submitted to INEC and challenges provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 relating to the qualification of presidential candidates.

Atiku and the other plaintiffs are seeking a judicial determination on whether the alleged issue with the NYSC document is sufficient to prevent Tinubu from participating in the 2027 presidential contest.
