Armed bandits have abducted the traditional ruler of Igbesi land in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, Oba Moses Oyinloye Iwedunmoye I, alongside other residents of the community.
The attackers reportedly invaded Igbesi at about 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, and abducted several residents during the operation.
A local source said the monarch, known as the Kabiyesi Onigbesi of Igbesi land, was taken to an unknown location along with other victims.
The exact number of people abducted during the attack was not immediately known as of the time of filing this report.
The incident has heightened security concerns in Kwara State, coming amid reports of several kidnapping incidents recorded in different parts of the state within the past 24 hours.
Security agencies are expected to intensify efforts to locate the abducted monarch and other victims and secure their safe release.
